WYC Rules and Regulations

Please note that any infraction of the Rules and Regulations set forth by the Executive Committee may result
in punishment up to and including dismissal from Wollaston Yacht Club.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. WYC will not tolerate excessive drinking of alcohol, fighting, disruptive conduct, inappropriate
language, or discrimination of any kind.
2. Consumption of personal alcohol on Club property AT ANY TIME is strictly prohibited, whether the
Club is open or closed.
3. If there are any problems whatsoever, please see the Commodore or an Executive Committee Member to
resolve the problem.
4. All fees, dues and fines shall be paid promptly.
5. Members are responsible for their own trash. Items purchased at the Club must be disposed of in our
trash and recycling barrels. However, “boat trash” (food containers, cans, bottles, fishing remains, etc.)
which was brought to the Club must be removed from the Club property.
6. The Steward has control of the Club in the absence of the Commodore or bridge members.
7. Members must be respectful of Club property and the property of individual members.
8. No equipment or gasoline may be taken through the Club. Please use the side deck to go around from the
front to back decks.
9. Members are not allowed in the galley or behind the bar at any time, unless authorized by the Restaurant
Manager.
10. A guest of a member must be signed-in with the Steward on duty and is only allowed at the Club while
the member is present. The member takes full responsibility for all actions of the guest.
11. Pets are welcome but must always be leashed and cannot be left unattended. Pets are not allowed within
the clubhouse. The member takes full responsibility for all actions of the pet.
12. Smoking shall be limited to an established section of the back deck and the side deck as per posted
signage. Smoking materials must be disposed of in proper receptacles.

FLOATS & SKIFFS
13. WYC will not be responsible for any member boats left on the floats.
14. The floats and mooring field are NO WAKE areas.
15. Children under 12 years of age must wear life jackets while on the floats. NO EXCEPTIONS.
16. There will be a skiff available for individual use when needed.
17. Tender and Club skiffs have priority on available float space. Please be courteous and raft if necessary.
18. A skiff used to access your boat must be promptly returned. A skiff may only be kept on a mooring for a
maximum of 45 minutes and must be signed out.
19. All boats must be properly secured while at the floats.
20. The large skiff is to be used only for member transportation. The small skiff may be used for work on
your boat or mooring.
21. Please load/unload passengers and equipment safely and promptly. Be courteous if float space is limited.
22. Boats cannot be left unattended at the float for more than 30 minutes unless the owner is in the Club.

NEW MEMBERS
23. Dues are required to be paid by February 1 of the upcoming season. Members who are in arrears on
March 1 will be removed from roll. To rejoin the Club, the member must go through the application
procedure for new membership, losing seniority for locker and dinghy waitlist.
24. The first season of membership will be under “Provisional” status. “Full” status will be granted upon
renewal for the second season at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
25. Membership cards must always be carried to access the clubhouse.
26. WYC shares reciprocity with several clubs in the Boston area. A listing can be found in the display case
in the hallway. Boating members are welcome to visit their facilities, but please remember that your
actions represent the rest of WYC.
27. A key card/fob will be provided for access to the Club and cannot be borrowed or lent out. Social
member access will be limited to when the galley and bar are open. Boating members will be granted
24/7 access in-season. Notice of opening and closing dates shall be announced to membership each
spring and fall. Winter access is restricted to members authorized by the Executive Committee.

BOATING MEMBERS
28. Each year 16 work-hours are required with 12 performed before June 1. If 12 work-hours are not
performed by June 1, all remaining work-hours will be invoiced at $25/hr and payable by July 1. On
November 1, any remaining work-hours will be invoiced at $30/hr and payable before membership
renewal.
29. A current boat insurance policy must be provided to the Executive Committee prior to your boat’s
arrival.
30. A proper mooring (approved by the WYC Fleet Captain) must be installed prior to your boat’s arrival.
31. A limited number of lockers are available for indoor storage. Hazardous or illegal materials (including
personal alcohol) may not be stored on WYC property. Hallway lockers must be shared by two or more
members. Renewals are due by February 1. If not paid by March 15, the space shall be declared to be
vacant and reassigned.
32. A limited number of dinghy permits are available which allow storage at the float during the season.
Dinghy permits require adherence to WYC’s Small Craft Policy. The dinghy fee is due upon application
acceptance, and renewals are due by February 1. If not paid by March 15, the space shall be declared to
be vacant and reassigned.
33. Gasoline, outboards, or other equipment may not be stored at the Club, except if secured in your
authorized dinghy.

SOCIAL MEMBERS
34. Use of floats/gangway/skiffs is prohibited unless accompanied by a Boating member or specifically
authorized by the Executive Committee.
35. Social members may not vote on any Club issue, or run for or hold an Executive Committee position,
but are welcome to serve on any non-Executive Committee.
36. A guest of a Social member must apply for Social membership after his or her 3rd visit.
